Anna University Circular To Allowing Max Attempt Exhausting Candidates To Special Arrear Exam

Anna University-Distance Education Special Arrear Examination after exhausting Maximum Period of Time allowed

Anna University-Distance Education Numerous representations have been received by Anna University from several students seeking permission to appear for arrear examinations after exhausting the maximum period of time allowed in the respective regulations for completing their programme. Further, in the meeting of the Vice-Chancellors held on 29.07.2020 under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education and the Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, it was decided to provide 3 more chances to all the candidates who have not completed the degree admitted from 1990 onwards.

In this context, it is informed that the Syndicate of Anna University, in its 260th Meeting held on 16.02.2021, resolved to permit the students who have exhausted their permitted maximum period (as per their respective Regulations), to appear for their examinations again as a special case during August / September 2021, February 2022 and August 2022. Further, the students have been advised to utilize these three chances with utmost care and diligence, since this is the final and last chance provided by the University.

The following categories of students have been permitted by the Syndicate to appear for the special examinations.

Category 1: Students of University Departments of Anna University, Chennai admitted in the Academic Year 1990 onwards (both UG & PG under Full Time & Part Time Mode).

Category 2: Students of Affiliated Colleges of Anna University and students Admitted to the affiliated colleges at the time of admission i.e. during the Academic year 2001 (3rd semester onwards) & 2002 (1st semester onwards) and currently in Autonomous ones including Distance Education offered by Anna University.

The other details in this regard will be provided in the web portal of Anna University for the students of Affiliated Colleges. Separate Notifications will be published for the students of the University Departments by the O/o the Additional Controller of Examinations (University Departments) and for the students of Autonomous Institutions by the O/o the Controller of Examinations of the respective Autonomous Institutions.
